I originally created this program as one of many countdown timers that lead to various events like, Christmas, Halloween, or next year.  Unlike all those others, this one is actually important!  Because, make no mistake about it, election day is tremendously important!

Our very Democracy it as risk right now.  We have one party in our government that is actively working to dismantle our Democracy. The only recourse we have for any of it is to start voting the right people in.

Generally speaking, I do not like to let politics enter into my business.  But in this case it's unavoidable.

I will state my bias right here and now.  Vote Democrat in the midterms.  If you don't like how things in this government are going right now, voting in more Republicans is NOT the way to fix it.

Keep an eye on this page.  Because as more developments about how messed up our government currently is arise, I will post my thoughts on it here.

New News 2022-09-30:
How many times have you heard the Republicans tell us that "Guns are not the problem.  It's mental health!"  Okay.  So what do we do about helping people?  How do we get help to kids in schools, when it's clear that they have issues with mental health?

Well, how about we float a bill that will help with that very thing?  Surely the Republicans can get behind that, right?

Fortunately it still passed.  But no thanks to the Republicans.

If you are voting for them, you are voting for more crap like this.

Today's rant 2022-10-03:
This is what I have come to learn about the fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats.

The Democrats will show us all what is wrong with this world.  Things like racism, climate change, civil rights, healthcare, the economy, social safety nets, immigration, sensible gun legislation, and a number of other important things that are not just problems, but they are problems that can be fixed.  They can be fixed with proper education, some government regulation, and a little bit of good old fashioned empathy toward fellow humans.

The Democrats will show evidence of where the problems are, and how they can be fixed.  The Democrats really ARE trying to help and really ARE trying to make things better for everyone.  No matter what you look like, who you love, or how much money you were born into.

The Republicans have no interest in fixing any of those things.  Partly because regulations are bad for business but mostly because they are racists, homophobic, greedy, or just plain stupid.  So they lay out their OWN list of problems.  These problems are always either exaggerations of rumors, conspiracy theories, misrepresentations, or sometimes, just completely made up.  They hammer these points as if they were facts in reality, and flat out blame the Democrats for creating or perpetuating these problems.  In some cases, the issue is something that didn't happen (Hillary's emails), and when one of their people does the same thing but 1000x worse, it's still the Democrat's fault.

One of my other favorite examples of this is the whole "election fraud" thing from 2020.  The Republicans started the misinformation before the election, and continued to push it until it turned into an actual insurrection.  And in the end, there was NO evidence at all.  No dead people voted.  No one voted twice.  No one pulled magical ballots out of boxes found under desks...  

Except for one thing.  The one or two cases of fraud that actually DID occur, were caught, and people arrested.  They were Drumpf supporters, voting for Drumpf.

Message for today 2022-11-06
Here we are.  Just a couple of days before the election.  I gotta tell you, my hopes are not very high.  And that is what I'm going to stick with.  I really do believe right now that despite the Republicans being a bunch of liars and cheaters, even though they are planning on banning abortion, taking away your ability to ever vote again, kill social security and Medicare, and undo 60 years worth of progressive legislation, destroy the economy (again), and try to turn this government into a theocracy - THEY stand to win the House AND the Senate.

It goes beyond my ability to comprehend how this is even possible.  One party says, "We want to help and make your lives better."  The other party says, "We are going to farking burn this place to the ground."  And THAT is the party that is going to win.

The majority of Americans want women to have autonomy over their bodies
The majority of Americans want to address climate change
The majority of Americans want universal healthcare
The majority of Americans want cheaper prescription drugs
The majority of Americans want clean air and water
The majority of Americans want guaranteed voting rights
The majority of Americans want affordable housing
The majority of Americans want legalized marijuana
The majority of Americans want to fight white supremacy
The majority of Americans want to fight domestic terrorism
The majority of Americans want LGBT rights protected
The majority of Americans want reasonable immigration laws
The majority of Americans want money and corporate influence out of politics

And this pretty well sums up why I am so upset and dismayed that despite this list of facts, and that is what they are, people will vote with the minority of this country that wants none of these things.  They will be voting AGAINST the people that want those things, and intend to deliver them.  This country is full of idiots.

Am I wrong about this?  Am I just setting myself up to be prepared so that if this IS the way it goes, I'm already settled with it?  Yes.  That is exactly it.  I am resigning myself to knowing that we've already lost.  If I'm wrong, then awesome!!!  If I'm right, well...  The 4 greatest words in the English language are "I told you so."  The one thing that the Republicans and undecided voters don't seem to understand is that the Republican's policies will hurt THEM too!  The leopards will also eat their faces.  And that is when I will say those magical 4 words to them.
